Two days in Barcelona (Day 1), popular Spanish city

Nowadays Barcelona is one of the most visited cities in Europe. If you go to visit, you will understand why. The city is full of great atmosphere. You can find here almost everything you are looking for such as a beach, architecture, history, good gastronomy, and Latin music and more.

I know that most people come to Barcelona for a long weekend because low-cost airlines offer cheap flight tickets, so I tried to sum up the basic things to see in Barcelona to two days. Of course, there are more things to see!
Let´s start with the most known street and with a small tour of the things that is La Rambla offering.
You have to get to Placa Catalunya. It is one of the biggest stations of transport. From here we can start our tour.

La Rambla

La Rambla is a very famous street. It is one of the longest streets in Barcelona. It is called also "Green street" because on both sides of the promenade there are trees. It connects Plaza Catalunya and the Christopher Colombus Monument at Port Vell. I love this street, always when I walk there I feel a great atmosphere. Even Federico García Lorca, the Spanish poet, said that La Rambla was "the only street in the world which I wish would never end".

Street artists sometimes can be scary.

La Boquería Market
It is the most known market in the centre of Barcelona. You can buy there all types of food and flowers. They are offering almost everything from fruit or vegetable to fish and meat. It is a great experience to go there! But I have to warn you. There are many people so take care of your things and your company, because you could lose both.

Plaça Reial
By continuing walking and enjoying La Rambla, we will get to
Plaça Reial. It will be on your left. It is a small square but some people also say that it is the most beautiful square in Barcelona. I felt a little bit like in the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean". There many restaurants and coffee shops so you can just sit and feel the atmosphere. This place is also considered as a part of the Gothic square.

My favourite place in La Rambla.

Christopher Colombus Monument and Marina

Here we finish our tour through La Rambla.
You can find this monument at the end of La Rambla. It is a big statue with Christopher Columbus that is pointing his finger in the direction of the Marina. Why Christopher Columbus? Because the Spanish monarchs were the ones who sponsored his travels.
Marina is a modern harbour with a shopping mall. One of the few that are open on Sundays.
